
Michael Mackey graduated from the University of Limerick with a B.Sc. in Bioscience in 2020 and is currently studying a M.Sc. in Clinical Neuroscience at the National University of Galway. Michael’s research interests include examining the biological underpinnings of neuropsychiatric disorders, with a particular focus on the immune systems role. Michael is undertaking a research project at the Galway Neuroscience Centre as part of his studies, that will examine potential immune system alterations in people diagnosed with schizophrenia. Michael is a youth advisory panel member with Jigsaw, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health in Ireland. This role allows Michael to actively engage with matters surrounding mental health in his community. Michael is an avid believer in the dissemination of scientific information and co-developed ‘The Galway Neuroscience Podcast’ with his postgraduate class.
